To say that I enjoyed reading it would not be a proper term due to the subject matter of the book. Written by a former student of mine years ago I found it very interesting, informative, but sad that such events took place in our school system.

Kids will be kids

That's what we were told about bullying. My daughter was bullied daily at Miller High School. She was told that they just needed to get along. They were unwilling to admit there was a problem. Shortly after this and a fight day after day I could not allow her to come home one more day crying. I moved her to New Lex school. Then it started again. This other girl was into pot and drinking by this time and actually told my daughter "I will kill you". The parent blamed my daughter for everything cause her daughter did no wrong. After being in the office over and over talking to the school councilor she finally had enough. She went on line to the school website and filed a complaint about being bullied. This report goes not only to the school but also to the state. She no more than stepped off the bus that morning and was whisked off to the office. After hearing my daughters story and realizing this had been going on for two years they finally called the bully in and told her if she said or did anything from this point on, she would be arrested and charges filed by myself and the school. So far so good, but sad this went on for so long and took such drastic measures to get it stopped.
I'm so sorry you had to go through this to go to school. We all deserve a safe environment to learn in. I know the teachers you described and I bet I could pick out the guys that treated you so horrible. All I can say is their parents need their asses beat for letting their children treat others like that. And even worse they are probably raising their own kids to treat others the same way they did. Best of luck to you Frank!! Sounds like you turned out pretty darn good for all that you endured.

True story of a small town where people feared those who were different.

Good read and a very true story. I also grew up there and was about 4 years older than Frank. Wish I would of known then maybe we could of been each other's support. But we survived. God bless you Frank.
